Monovalley - deception island ep (2006)

When I discovered the French band Acetate Zero with their first album “Softcore Paradise” in 1999, I’ve been directly under the charm of Elsa Diot’s voice, hoping that she would take more place in the future of the band. But even if the following discography of this always underestimated band is more than recommended, this particular fact never happened, Acetate Zero always worked as a band.

1985 - emaline (2004, Masa)

This new ep of Matt Fuller offers also seven bonus tracks from a live set in Portland, OR, early 2005. These are poorly recorded and don’t bring nothing particular to the original versions, it just an interesting listen if you are a fan.

Much more seducing are the five new songs of the ep.

1985 - where tomorrow lets us breathe (2004, Masa)

Shortly after the release of “Dawn Treading”, Matt Fuller seems to have received the opportunity of being recorded in a small studio. This was done by Bob Schwenkler.

“Where Tomorrow Lets Us Breathe” is mainly a new version of “Dawn Treading” with almost the same songs, as eight of the eleven songs here were already on the previous record in close 4-track versions.

1985 - dawn treading (2004, Masa)

With “Dawn Treading”, Matt Fuller changed his project name from A Sandcastle Still to 1985. Basically it’s the same thing, intimate folk lo-fi songs recorded in urgency with mostly his voice and his acoustic guitar.

Gareth Dickson - solina sea (Benbecula, 2005)

Ce deuxième album de l’Ecossais Gareth Dickson n’en est pas vraiment un, premièrement parce qu’il n’est pas sorti en tant que tel, deuxièmement parce qu’il est constitué de titres épars dont certains probablement volontairement non inclus sur son album ‘Spruce Goose’, tandis que les autres plus récents s’inscrivent sous influence revendiquée de la scène électronique (Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada), même si pas la moindre trace digitale à l’horizon. Pas vraiment sorti parce qu’il ne s’agit que d’un des treize cdrs sortis dans un coffret, ‘Minerals Box’ par un label expérimental écossais.
