Sleep Whale - little brite (2006, Western Vinyl)

First ep for this instrumental duo from Denton, Texas, compositions floating somewhere between folktronica and post-rock between Helios and Balmorhea. They mix electronic and acoustic sounds, Joel plays guitar and cello, and Bruce plays violin.

Their music is bright, delicate and fresh, with a light and pleasant melancholic feel. The acoustic guitar sometimes reminds me of Owen but the comparison stops here. There is room for vocals or more twists to their music. It's utterly nice but at the same time they offer no surprise and there is no much mystery behind “Little Brite”. It's gentle, delicate and soft and It won't hurt you or leave a lasting impression.
