Fourth album by Federico Durand, from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and I have the feeling that I never stopped listening to his music since I discovered "La siesta del ciprés", "Elin" and later "El éxtasis de las flores pequeñas".
While starting to listen this new album, I had no special expectations, just the certitude to expand his lovely atmospheres and to welcome a few more of his sensitivity and aesthetic experiences in my daily aural environment.

Federico Durand - el éxtasis de las flores pequeñas (2011, Own)
Third album for Federico Durand, living in the suburbs of Buenos Aires, Argentina, after his debut "Elin" (2008) and his marvelous second one "La siesta del ciprés" (2010), a major ambient release and a strong emotional discovery of last year for me.

Federico Durand - elin (Imoto, 2008)
With "La siesta del ciprés", released on Spekk in 2010, Argentinian ambient musician imposed himself as a particular, unique and poetic sensitivity, but it wasn't his coup d'essai.
His first album was released two years earlier on Imoto, on a smaller UK and less visible label and stayed more or less completely anonymous until now.

Sketches For Albinos - days of being wild and kind (2010, Nothings66)
Based at Reykjavik, Matthew Collings releases music as Sketches for Albinos and this his is fourth release under this alias.
The use of references around the release of this album or older ones is somehow excessive as you can read things like "if Kevin Shields was a one-man band playing Steve Reich" or " resemblance to the works of veterans such as Godspeed You Black Emperor, Sigur Rós and Tortoise".

Federico Durand - la siesta del ciprés (2010, Spekk)
Siesta : “An afternoon rest or nap, esp. one taken during the hottest hours of the day in a hot climate”.
Between awakening and sleep, not in deep sleep but with a dissolved consciousness, listening to “La Siesta del Ciprés” is like walking through a deep fog, unsure if it's a dream or the reality, but without losing track, keeping alert while almost weightless.
