David Newlyn - deterioration (Flaming Pines, 2012)

David Newlyn is a musician based in Durham, England. 

This new album has been recorded on micro cassettes, phones and cameras, using fields recordings taken while visiting the Belgian medieval city of Bruges. 

You never identify precisely those outdoor sounds but you can feel these through the music, as they create the atmosphere of the songs, so I imagine myself easily walking through quiet and dormant small roads between old buildings and along canals.

Kate Carr - return to new caledonia (Flaming Pines, 2012)

New EP for Kate Carr, "Return to New Caledonia" has been conceived using field recordings taken during a holiday trip in New Caledonia.

But we are far from atmospheric soundscapes, as the final result is mostly abstract and keeps a distance with colored emotional perspectives.

This is very much like the other releases by Marcus Fischer, bright but austere, not for the headlights but dedicated to semi-shade areas

As part of the 10 three inch CD series "Rivers Home", it is dedicated and inspired by " the path of the Willamette river through Portland, where it passes under a series of bridges, homes and industry before the two rivers meet."

"Brisbane River" is part of a project called "Rivers Home", conceived and released on Flaming Pines, a label run by Kate Carr.

10 artists are invited to release three inch-cd EP developed around the theme of rivers as some of the most vulnerable eco-systems worldwide. Each artists "explores" the river he is familiar with.
